The New Digg is Old Again?
Last night I’ve got an invitation from Digg.com to try the upcoming new look of their frontend.
Firstly, I have been surprised with the fact that Digg is pursuing a new design at this point because they had a major change of pretty everything just a few moths ago.
The first thing I have thought, before I saw the new look was: “I could bet they’re trying to make it look like old one, again”. And, I was right. The new Digg.com look is actually the old one, with the features from new Digg version.

At this moment, I can say that I just started to like that new design of Digg and this change is a little bit shocking for me.
In my opinion, this new-old design which you can see in attached screenshots here, is pretty worse than the one which is now in public use. It is again a two-column layout with main stories placed on the left side. The top-news page shows 15 latest popular stories and two advertisements.
I have to admit that the horizontal menu is one of the main reasons why I could say that I dislike this new look. It looks to simple. I think that the green menu which was used in previous version of Digg.com would fit here perfectly.

For now, what can I notice is that this is just a change of the look, I couldn’t spot any changes of features. I am expecting to see some changes in browsing friends’ activity.
All in all, I can responsibly claim that it seems that the new Digg has trying to be the old one. I have nothing against that and I hope they’ll bring back the most of the features which were available in previous version. Good luck Digg!
